I wanted to share the information gathered and received from Victor Munoz, our contact at Hubbs and the grow-out coordinator. Victor took these measurements on 12/12/25. The assistant coordinator, Rex Shettlesworth will be out this coming week to repeat the weigh and measure process. He’s also bringing us more bags of food. According to these measurements one month ago, we were about half way to reaching the target density for the fish. Once there, we will coordinate a release date. The release is not quite as “hands on” as when we receive the little ones but still fun to participate. All are welcome and will have advance notice when that will be.
TL is length, measured in (mm) millimeters
Wt is weight, measured in (g) grams
The graph depicts the “average” for the sample taken at weight and measurement date. Victor took 50 fish from each pen to weigh and measure and check for tags.
Once we receive the new weight and measurement results, I will forward on to you.
On a side note, I understand that the winds picked up considerably last week. Please don’t feel obligated to complete your shift at the pens if the winds are up. It can be a safety concern and it’s very difficult to manage the wood screens and the skiff in the high winds. The same thing goes for heavy rains or stormy conditions. Just let myself or Bob know if you opt out for the shift. That will help determine how much food remains in the auto feeders.
Also, when netting the floating vegetation out of the pens, please dispose of it in the water outside the pens and try not to use the trash can on our pen dock.
